Beat Takeshi is an awesome director , for his minimalist camera movements , his directing lies on pure performance!

Willam Freidkin’s crime film , To Live and Die in L.A had inspired Micheal Mann’s heat ( both Hate each other for some reason) and DRIVE. This montage sequence is gorgeous due to the editing to the pace of Wang Chung’s score and not to mention the most gorgeous L.A sundown that became the backdrop to the movie poster.

Vigilante (1980) , Dir Willam Lustig
D.P James Lemmo
I am not a big fan of night shots using congo blue gels , but in a closed off interior they provide such a unique atmosphere with gelled florescent fixtures on the wall. Quintien Tarantino had once said that Vigilante provided the look that he wanted for True Romance (1994) , and at one time wanted William lustig to be attached to direct it , studios went with the awesome Tony Scott. Vigilante is a B movie that has a very good look to it.
